In 2018, we held the Oxford Socio-Legal Debates Tournament for the first time. With each passing year, debates are becoming increasingly popular among secondary school pupils. This subtle art of discussion allows you to compete with an opponent presenting the opposite position with the weight of arguments. The Oxford debate develops a culture of conversation and active listening in the participants. It also requires them to have extensive knowledge of the subject. Participation in the Oxford debate is an excellent way to develop the soft competences that are currently currently desirable in the labour market \u2013 the ability to speak publicly, argue and cooperate with others.

The main objectives of the Tournament are: youth legal education, promoting civic attitudes, creating an inclusive and intellectually stimulating environment and encouraging young people to learn about the difficult art of oratorios and eristics.<\/p>

In 2020, we were preparing a continuation of the Tournament in its traditional form.<\/p>

The situation related to the epidemic state proved to be a major challenge also in the context of the organization of the third edition of our event. <\/strong>We have seen the pandemic as an opportunity to find alternative solutions. We have conducted many technical tests and organize a pilot virtual continuation of our Tournament!<\/strong><\/p>

These will be friendly games, which we will conduct in early July. They will be attended by schools that have applied for the traditional version of the Tournament and subsequently expressed their willingness to participate in our experiment, and which corresponded to the deadline proposed by us.
We will invite students and jurors to a virtual room, the background of which will be a photo of the courtroom. Cameras showing students and jurors will be placed in the right places in the photo to recreate the layout of the traditional form of debate. The rules of the culture of debate and elegant attire will continue to apply during the tournament. The jury will traditionally be represented by representatives of the legal professions, debating circles and the Court Watch Poland Foundation.<\/p>

The Organizer reserves the right to change the place or date of the elimination or final and undertakes to inform the Guardians without delay in the event of such a decision.<\/p>
