On October 24, 1980, the Regional Court (formerly the name of the second-tier ordinary courts) in Warsaw registered the activities of the Independent Self-Governing Trade Union "Solidarno\u015b\u0107". Crowds of citizens interested in the court's decision gathered in the courtroom and in front of the Court Building. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In making the registration, the court amended the statutes against which the "S" authorities appealed. They also threatened a general strike if registration failed. On November 10, 1980, the Supreme Court made the entry of the Solidarity Nszz in the register of trade unions, repealing the amendments introduced by the Provincial Court. Also in this case, a crowd of citizens waited for the outcome in front of the court building, who euphoricly accepted the news of the registration of the union. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The issue of the registration of 'Solidarity' is a perfect example of a case that was important to many citizens, and without the possibility for citizens to demonstrate this interest, without the presence of an audience and journalists in court, its outcome could have been quite different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
